Small, round and rather confident in red
The Addison Ross Chubbie Salt or Pepper Mill in Red proves that 12 cm is quite enough to make an impression at the table. Two generous rounded forms, a 7 cm diameter and a rich, glossy red give this compact Addison Ross Mill its almost sculptural character. The body is crafted from rubberwood and finished with multiple coats of high-gloss lacquer, creating a polished surface that gives the colour remarkable depth and brightness. A polished stainless-steel screw knob sits at the top, adding a cool metallic contrast to the warm red. Chubbie is not committed to just one seasoning either: it can be used as a salt or pepper mill and features a ceramic grinding mechanism inside. Its compact height makes it pleasingly easy to handle and gives it a very different personality from the taller 24 cm Bobbin Mill. Chubbie prefers to stand a little wider. Addison Ross began as a family business in 1978 with a gallery on the Scottish border. The Addison Ross Gallery on Eaton Terrace in Belgravia followed later, bringing the family into close contact with emerging artists, galleries and interior designers. This creative background initially led to handcrafted frames, followed in the early 1990s by collections featuring marquetry and veneer, and eventually a much broader world of home accessories.
