The deer has found its place, and surprisingly it is not between the fir trees but on a sideboard, console or dining table. The Engels Kerzen Deer Object Candle from the ENGELS OBJEKTE collection turns a familiar woodland motif into a sculptural home accessory. Its finely modelled stag's head features distinctive antlers, detailed fur and a wonderfully calm expression, all formed in paraffin wax and finished with velvet lacquer in the colour Fir. The muted green complements the natural subject without making it feel overly rustic, while the soft matt appearance of the lacquer brings out the contours and textures of the modelling. At 18.5 cm high, 15 cm wide and 13 cm long, the object candle has enough presence to anchor an arrangement while remaining easy to combine with other pieces. Handmade in Germany, it is cast and coloured throughout, as well as vegan and REACH-certified. One candle is supplied. And yes, despite a rather convincing second career as a decorative sculpture, the deer really is designed to be lit.

Fir green has more than one season in it

With an object candle, the flame is only part of the story. The sculptural silhouette makes this deer an intriguing interior accent even before the wick is lit, and the Fir colour is far more versatile than its obvious Christmas associations might suggest. In autumn, the muted green sits naturally alongside timber, stone, smoked glass and warm brown or burgundy shades. During Advent and Christmas, it feels completely at home amongst branches, bowls and candle arrangements. Afterwards? There is really no need to pack it away. Pair it with cream, beige, black or clear glass and the woodland motif takes on a distinctly more contemporary character. When burning the candle, always place it securely on a suitable heat-resistant surface. Engels Kerzen recommends trimming the wick to approximately 1.5 cm before lighting and allowing the top layer of wax sufficient time to melt during the first burn. Even a deer with antlers deserves good candle etiquette.

Engels Kerzen makes its object candles at its own manufactory in Kempen, Germany, combining more than 90 years of experience with an enduring enthusiasm for unexpected forms.
