A Christmas tree that needs no baubles

The Engels Kerzen Tanne M object candle with velvet lacquer in Spruce brings Christmas atmosphere into a beautifully clean, sculptural form. Its pared-back silhouette takes inspiration from the familiar shape of a fir tree, while the softly layered sections give it the feel of a small design object rather than traditional festive decoration. Measuring 20 cm high and 8.4 cm in diameter, the medium-sized tree is easy to place on a sideboard, windowsill, coffee table or Christmas dining table. The Spruce shade is a calm, natural green that pairs effortlessly with warm wood, cream, beige, glass or richer seasonal colours. Handmade from paraffin wax, the object candle is solid-coloured, dipped, vegan and REACH-certified. Its distinctive matt velvet-lacquer finish absorbs light softly rather than reflecting it strongly, giving the green a rich, quiet depth. The surface is also resistant to fingerprints. Weighing 0.369 kg, the candle feels compact and well balanced and offers a burning time of approximately 45 hours. Although, even unlit, it makes a rather convincing case for simply being left to look good.

Somewhere between winter forest and dinner table

On its own, placed on a simple candle plate or tray, it feels calm and graphic; surrounded by fir branches, pine cones or natural materials, it immediately takes on a more wintry mood. Three trees in and it is almost a forest

The Tanne M object candle in Spruce works particularly well with other sizes from the Engels fir-tree collection. Pairing a smaller and larger version beside it creates a relaxed group, while repeating the same colour keeps the overall composition calm. For stronger contrast, Spruce can be mixed with Burgundy, Pebble or other shades from the Engels velvet-lacquer palette. Taper candles, pillar candles and ribbed candles from Engels can also add further layers of light to an Advent or Christmas arrangement. Before first lighting, Engels recommends trimming the wick to approximately 1 cm and checking the length before each subsequent use. A suitable candle plate will protect the surface underneath. This way, the tree can begin as decoration, later become candlelight and spend the time in between doing what good Christmas accessories do best: quietly setting the mood.
