Engels Kerzen: Engels Fine Line

Pillar Candle Burgundy 9 cm

A little burgundy goes a lovely long way

Beautiful colour doesn't need much space to make an impression. The ENGELS FINE LINE pillar candle in Burgundy proves the point with its compact 9 cm height, 7 cm diameter and a surface that's anything but ordinary. Fine vertical ridges run along the entire candle, giving its classic cylindrical shape a delicate, almost fabric-like texture. The rich burgundy shade brings to mind dark berries, a good glass of red wine and the warmth of autumn evenings, yet feels equally at home throughout the year. Hand-poured in Germany from vegan, REACH-certified paraffin wax, this ribbed pillar candle is coloured all the way through and offers approximately 30 hours of burn time. Plenty of time for leisurely dinners, quiet evenings and conversations that carry on well beyond the original plan. Its low, generous proportions give it a reassuring presence, making it particularly lovely alongside taller candles. Displayed alone on a simple candle plate, it has just as much charm. A thoughtful little addition to your home that asks for surprisingly little space.

It's all in the little lines

The appeal of the ENGELS FINE LINE collection lies in its beautifully considered surface. Delicate vertical grooves give the familiar pillar candle a fresh character, creating a subtle interplay of light and shadow. Once lit, the flame gently highlights the ridges, bringing even more warmth to the deep burgundy colour. The carefully selected paraffin wax is designed to support a calm flame and an even burn, while the colour runs throughout the candle rather than sitting on the surface. This means the rich shade remains consistent as the candle gradually becomes shorter. At 9 cm tall, it works particularly well on a flat, heat-resistant candle plate, in a suitable holder or grouped with other candles and decorative objects. On a dining table, its lower profile keeps the conversation flowing across the table. On a sideboard, it introduces colour amongst books, vases and ceramics. Burgundy pairs beautifully with wood, linen and warm brown tones in autumn, evergreen branches and subtle brass details at Christmas, or pale flowers and cream-coloured tableware in spring. A versatile little candle with plenty of decorating possibilities.

Good craftsmanship never goes out of style

Engels Kerzen has been making candles in Kempen, Germany, since 1933, combining traditional craftsmanship with a genuine enthusiasm for thoughtful design. Originally specialising in candles for religious occasions, the family-run manufacturer has developed over generations into a respected name in candles for interiors, table settings and celebrations. Carefully selected materials, skilled production and German manufacturing remain central to the company's philosophy. The FINE LINE collection reflects this approach beautifully. Each hand-poured candle is made using paraffin wax refined in Germany and subject to strict quality controls. The precisely defined ribbed texture demonstrates how a familiar shape can take on a completely different personality through one considered detail. At LIVOSY, we have a particular appreciation for objects like these: pieces with character, a clear purpose and the freedom to fit naturally into different interiors. Good design doesn't need to make a grand entrance to feel right at home.

Small candle, big plans for the table

At 9 cm tall, this burgundy pillar candle is a lovely companion to the taller pieces in the ENGELS FINE LINE collection. Pair it with the 15 cm ribbed pillar candle to create a gentle variation in height, while the matching surface texture keeps the arrangement feeling cohesive. The collection includes six coordinated colours, alongside taper candles and other candle shapes, giving you plenty of room to experiment with different combinations throughout the year. Simple candle plates, suitable lanterns and holders allow the textured surface to take centre stage, while decorative bowls and natural materials introduce a more personal touch. To encourage an even burn, Engels recommends trimming the wick to approximately 1 cm before lighting and keeping the candle on a heat-resistant surface away from draughts. As with all candles, never leave it burning unattended. Whether it becomes a little splash of colour in your living room, part of a thoughtfully arranged dinner table or a gift for someone who appreciates the details, this ribbed candle brings a welcome sense of warmth to everyday life. And it does so without taking up much room at all.
