These candles have no intention of disappearing between a vase and your favourite bowl. The ENGELS ORIGINAL pillar candles by Engels Kerzen bring a clear, warm presence to the dining table, sideboard or windowsill with their 20 cm height, 8 cm diameter and rich vermilion red. The generous proportions work particularly well as a pair, which is precisely why they come as a set of two. Each pillar candle is cast in Germany from paraffin wax, coloured throughout and made by hand. Characteristic of ENGELS ORIGINAL is the finely polished surface, which gives the strong red a subtle silky sheen. A rounded, polished rim and gently recessed top create the distinctive finish of these cast candles. The paraffin is vegan and REACH certified, while an integrated burn stop provides an additional detail. With up to 108 hours of burn time per candle, this is also a pair that intends to stay around for quite some time.

Generous proportions, surprisingly easy to live with

At 20 cm tall, these red pillar candles can comfortably become a focal point without requiring the rest of your decoration to make way. Vermilion brings warmth to pale timber, cream and natural shades, feels unexpectedly light alongside blush tones or glass and becomes more graphic when paired with darker colours. In autumn, the red works beautifully with earthy hues; during Advent and Christmas, try fir green, brass and warm white. There is no reason to put it away afterwards, either. Vermilion works equally well as a considered colour accent for birthdays, dinners and year-round table settings. A simple tray, coaster or candle holder gives the clean silhouette and rich colour plenty of room to speak for themselves.

To make the most of the long burn time, Engels Kerzen recommends trimming the wick to approximately 1 cm before first lighting and checking the length again before each subsequent use. Allowing sufficient burning time helps the wax pool develop evenly. Fingerprints, dust and small marks can be carefully removed from the polished surface, helping its characteristic silky appearance stay with you for longer.

Four heights. One rather good idea.

At 20 cm, this is one of the taller pillar candle sizes and an easy way to introduce different levels into an arrangement. Vermilion looks particularly appealing alongside ENGELS ORIGINAL pillar candles in 10, 12 and 15 cm heights: the same colour and design language, but with a more relaxed visual rhythm. The 20 cm pair can equally stand on its own or be combined with other colours, Engels Fine Line taper candles and Klassik ribbed candles. Vermilion can feel festive during Advent, bring warmth into the home in autumn and then appear unexpectedly fresh beside pale colours in spring.
