Clean-lined, yes. Plain, certainly not. The ENGELS KLASSIK Ribbed Candle in Ivory by Engels Kerzen brings texture to candlelight with a distinctly graphic character. At 15 cm high and 8 cm in diameter, it has the familiar proportions of a classic pillar candle, while its vertical ribbing gives the silhouette a more contemporary rhythm. The surface is finished in a matt Velvet Lacquer in warm ivory, designed to absorb rather than brightly reflect the surrounding light. The result is a wonderfully calm appearance that brings out the subtle interplay of light and shadow along each rib. There is a practical detail hidden in all that good looks, too: the Velvet Lacquer surface is resistant to fingerprints. Made in Germany from solid-coloured vegan paraffin wax, the candle is dipped and finished by hand. Its burn time of approximately 68 hours leaves plenty of room for long dinners, slow Sundays and those evenings that were only supposed to last an hour.
