This SENTIMENTALS EASY scented candle by Engels Kerzen combines vegan rapeseed wax with satin-finished glass in the warm pebble shade Kiesel and a fragrance that begins bright before becoming increasingly soft and warm. Bergamot and orange provide a fresh citrus opening with an aldehydic accent. At its heart, GENTLE RETREAT turns floral as jasmine, geranium and peony meet oriental nuances. Woody notes, amber, musk, tonka bean and vanilla form the warm base, giving the home fragrance its gentle depth. Measuring 8 cm high and 9 cm in diameter, the candle sits easily on a console, coffee table, windowsill or dining table. Its understated brown-grey glass softly filters the candlelight rather than competing for attention. Made in Germany and supplied individually, the candle offers an approximate burn time of 25 hours.

Turns out pebble tones do Christmas rather well
On an Advent arrangement or tray, beside a lantern or simply standing alone on a console, GENTLE RETREAT needs very little staging. For a relaxed winter setting, combine its pebble-toned glass with fir branches, pine cones, decorative bowls and candle holders. Different heights can be introduced with Engels Kerzen Fine Line taper or pillar candles, Klassik ribbed candles or sculptural candles. Several SENTIMENTALS EASY colours also look lovely grouped together, although when it comes to burning them, we prefer giving each fragrance its own moment in the room. To help GENTLE RETREAT burn evenly throughout its approximate 25-hour burn time, trim the wick to around 1 cm before the first lighting and before relighting, removing any residue at the tip. A candle snuffer makes extinguishing it particularly easy. After that, only one difficult decision remains: light another candle, or admit that at some point the evening really should end.
