Good candlelight involves rather more craft than you might think

Engels Kerzen has been making candles in its German manufactory since 1933, drawing on more than 90 years of experience. Originally known primarily for ecclesiastical candles, the family business has carried its knowledge of wax, wicks and burning behaviour through generations and into contemporary candle collections for interiors and table settings. The paraffin used for its candles is refined in Germany and, as a REACH-certified raw material, is subject to corresponding quality controls. It is vegan, fully recyclable and provides a bright flame with reliable, even burning characteristics. To make the most of the approximately 82-hour burn time, Engels Kerzen recommends trimming the wick to around 1 cm before the first lighting and regularly thereafter. This helps the heat spread evenly and supports a calm, balanced melt pool. Should the wick lean noticeably to one side while burning, it can be carefully guided back towards the centre.
