Engels Kerzen: Jana

Taper Candle Holder L Black

Black looks rather good in candlelight

Soft, sculptural and surprisingly expressive in Black: the JANA L taper candle holder by Engels Kerzen is formed from two gently rounded shapes stacked one above the other, creating an organic silhouette for the dining table, sideboard or windowsill. Made from aluminium with a black powder-coated finish, the candle holder has a calm, even surface that complements its generous curves. At 5 cm high and 7 cm in diameter, JANA remains compact without disappearing into the background. There is a clever practical detail at its centre, too: the holder accommodates taper candles with both 2.2 cm and 3.0 cm diameters, giving you the freedom to switch between slender and wider candles and experiment with different colours, proportions and heights. A felt pad underneath helps protect delicate surfaces. Simply wipe the body with a damp cloth for cleaning and avoid washing it in hot water to prevent the aluminium from becoming unnecessarily heated. Each piece includes one JANA candle holder in Black – which candle gets the seat of honour is entirely up to you.

A black backdrop for almost any colour

Black makes JANA particularly versatile. White, cream and beige taper candles create a crisp contrast, while rich reds, greens or blues can give the arrangement a more graphic character. Add a black candle and the holder becomes an almost monochrome design object. It works just as naturally at dinner as it does sitting quietly on a sideboard and can be restyled throughout the year. Warm and traditional candle colours suit Advent, while birthdays and weddings offer plenty of opportunities to include JANA in a relaxed table setting. And between occasions? It can simply stay where it is. The rounded silhouette softens the darker colour, creating a pleasing contrast that gives the candle holder character without demanding an elaborate setting. JANA is also available in Ivory for a lighter look or for combining both colours in one arrangement.

A candle maker with a long memory

Engels Kerzen has been working with candlelight since 1933. Based in Kempen, Germany, the candle manufacturer combines decades of craftsmanship with a contemporary approach to colours, forms and the wider world of candles. Its commitment to “Made in Germany” encompasses careful consideration of wax and wicks as well as burn time, burning characteristics and design. Originally known particularly for candles made for ecclesiastical settings, the family business has developed its expertise over the decades into collections for modern interiors, table culture and lifestyle. JANA introduces another side to that world: rather than simply giving a candle somewhere to stand, the holder gives the light a considered setting of its own. That balance of atmosphere, function and enduring design also feels very much at home in the LIVOSY collection, where we choose objects that can become part of everyday life without constantly asking for attention.

Two curves, one flame and your own combination

The black JANA candle holder pairs particularly well with taper candles by Engels Kerzen. Fine Line taper candles offer plenty of colour choices for seasonal and year-round arrangements, while bowls, glassware and other table accessories can be added without making the setting feel overly composed. Group several JANA holders together to repeat the rounded silhouette, or combine Black and Ivory for a subtle change of tone. At LIVOSY, you will also find Engels Fine Line taper and pillar candles, Klassik ribbed candles, sculptural candles, pieces from the ENGELS ORIGINAL collection and Sentimetals Easy scented candles. Candle sharpeners, snuffers and wax adhesive pads take care of the practical details. JANA can concentrate on the atmosphere: choose a favourite colour, add a taper candle and see what a little light does to the room.
