Product information "Cushion Vase 18.5 cm"
Looks soft. It is porcelain. Lovely, isn’t it?
The MEISSEN Cushion Vase 18.5 cm is one of those objects where the mind pauses for a second, while the eye has already made up its mind. Designed by Maximilian Hagstotz, it translates the familiar shape of a cushion into glossy white hard porcelain – soft in appearance, precise in craftsmanship and beautifully unexpected on a dining table, sideboard or console. Its irregular wavy opening, gently pressed surfaces and sculptural folds recall fabric in motion, although of course nothing here actually gives way. With a height of 18.5 cm, a width of 24 cm and a depth of 17 cm, this Meissen vase offers generous space for expressive floral arrangements, anthuriums, orchids, branches or seasonal bouquets. At the same time, it works beautifully without flowers as a small porcelain sculpture – one that politely pretends to be a cushion.
A cushion that suits flowers rather well
The distinctive shape makes this vase a wonderful styling partner. Its wide, open silhouette allows flowers to be arranged loosely, without looking too formal. Individual blooms can lean to the side, branches can grow beyond the form, and fuller arrangements gain an almost painterly stage. The brilliant white remains pleasantly calm, allowing colours, leaves and textures to appear even more vivid. At the same time, the glossy surface plays with light: depending on the angle, reflections, shadows and subtle movements appear across the porcelain. The result is a vase that feels alive without being loud – a home accessory with humour, poise and a surprising amount of elegance.
MEISSEN: where craftsmanship finds its shape
Since 1710, the State Porcelain Manufactory Meissen has stood for exceptional porcelain quality and masterful craftsmanship. The famous blue Crossed Swords mark is recognised worldwide as a symbol of authenticity, tradition and outstanding production. The distinctive brilliance of Meissen porcelain begins with pure kaolin from the manufactory’s own mine, combined with feldspar and quartz to create the porcelain body. To this day, Meissen porcelain is produced in Germany through elaborate handcraftsmanship, from shaping and refining to firing. The Cushion Vase demonstrates this expertise beautifully: the seemingly soft folds, irregular outline and sculptural form require great experience to make the object appear light while remaining stable and refined.
For tables, consoles and small surprises in the room
The white MEISSEN Cushion Vase pairs beautifully with other porcelain pieces from the manufactory, such as Cosmopolitan White, Vitruv Graphic Biscuit, bowls, mugs or other vases. It also creates an appealing contrast beside clear glass, warm wood, linen or gold-toned accents, as its softly modelled surface adds a tactile visual note. At LIVOSY, we choose pieces that create atmosphere and remain a pleasure for years. This vase brings exactly that: porcelain, design, craftsmanship and a small wink of humour. An object that holds flowers, opens up a room and quietly proves that even a cushion can have excellent posture.
