Natalini: NICE

Picture Frame Grigia 13x18 cm

A little geometry for the memories worth keeping

A favourite photograph can handle a frame with a little personality of its own. The Natalini Grigia photo frame from the NICE collection combines a 13 x 18 cm photo size with a 20 mm wide wooden frame featuring a graphic composition of grey, white and darker tones. Rectangular sections, fine lines and visibly varied textures create a lively rhythm around the image. From a distance it feels calm and balanced; move closer and there are more details to discover. That is precisely the charm of Grigia: it catches the eye without stealing the photograph's moment. The wooden frame has a lacquered surface, while the reverse features a velour-like covering. Rotating tabs allow the photograph to be inserted and changed, and an integrated stand means the frame can be displayed in either portrait or landscape orientation. Place it on a sideboard, bookshelf, bedside table or console and a photograph becomes part of the room rather than another image hidden on a phone. Which also saves scrolling through the camera roll for the 47th time.

There is more to the pattern than first meets the eye

Behind its decorative appearance lies the marquetry technique for which Natalini is known. In this traditional form of inlay work, different veneers are precisely cut into individual shapes before being assembled to form a pattern. Their individual shades, structures and natural grain contribute to the finished composition. The decoration therefore develops through the interaction of separate elements rather than simply being printed onto the surface. In the NICE Grigia frame, this long-established technique takes on a distinctly contemporary character. Geometric sections change in tone and direction, creating movement while retaining an overall sense of calm. The larger 13 x 18 cm format gives portraits, travel photographs and meaningful family images a little more presence, while the 20 mm frame remains carefully proportioned around the photograph.

Tradition looks surprisingly at home here

Founded in 1979, Natalini specialises in decorative photo frames and has become particularly associated with marquetry frames. Its extensive collections explore the technique through different colours, patterns and visual styles, ranging from quieter compositions to more expressive designs. Grigia from the NICE collection is made in Italy and brings traditional decorative craft into a contemporary interior without making it feel nostalgic. Clear geometry and a restrained combination of grey, white and dark accents give the design its modern direction. It is the kind of home accessory that sits naturally within the LIVOSY world: an object does not have to dominate a room to give it personality. Good design can simply be there, quietly doing its job. In this case, it happens to be looking after a rather important memory too.

Suddenly, the sideboard has a story

The understated palette makes NICE Grigia easy to combine with glass, ceramics, wood and natural shades. It feels equally at home between books, beside a vase or scented candle, or given a little space of its own on a simple chest of drawers. Several Natalini photo frames can also be brought together to create a personal gallery. Different sizes, colours and patterns need not match exactly; in fact, a little variation can make a collection feel more natural and individual. With its graphic pattern and grey-and-white palette, Grigia can provide a calmer note among more expressive designs. It is just as convincing on its own, of course. All that remains is to choose the photograph that deserves to escape the camera roll.
