Black can have a surprisingly warm side

Add a handful of bright kumquats and the PHILIPPI NEGRETTO bowl reveals exactly what makes it interesting: it can remain understated while still holding your attention. Measuring 26 cm in diameter and just 5 cm high, the black bowl has a deliberately low, generously open shape. It is made in India from aluminium, with a black powder-coated exterior and an enamelled interior. This combination gives NEGRETTO its distinctive character. The dark outside feels calm and restrained, while the smooth interior catches light and colour, presenting fruit or small arrangements almost as if they had been given their own stage. Weighing approximately 0.8 kg, the PHILIPPI bowl can move easily between dining table, coffee table, kitchen island and sideboard. Apples, mandarins and lemons feel just as natural inside as a seasonal arrangement. And leaving it empty is entirely acceptable too. This is one of those home accessories that does not send you searching through the cupboards for something to fill it with.

Low in profile, generous in possibilities

At only 5 cm high, NEGRETTO feels less like a conventional deep fruit bowl and more like a generous tray with a gently rising rim. That makes it particularly versatile. Fruit remains visible and easy to reach, while the rounded edge gives everything inside a defined frame. Its 26 cm diameter also allows the bowl to sit comfortably on smaller tables without taking over the space needed for plates, glasses and other table accessories. As a decorative bowl, NEGRETTO can change with the seasons using only a few carefully chosen objects: nuts and natural finds in autumn, selected ornaments at Christmas or perhaps simply lemons throughout the rest of the year. Most kitchens need those anyway, and they happen to look rather good against black.

A shape with very little to prove

Rather than relying on applied decoration, the bowl takes its character from material, proportion and the contrast between its surfaces. And suddenly the mandarins have a stage

Black is an exceptionally easy companion around the table. The PHILIPPI NEGRETTO bowl works alongside white porcelain and clear glass just as naturally as warm ceramics, timber, linen or stronger colours. On a pale surface, its round silhouette becomes graphic and distinct; placed on a darker table, the form recedes and whatever sits inside takes the attention. NEGRETTO can therefore serve as an everyday fruit bowl just as comfortably as a quiet decorative piece elsewhere in the home.
