Ceramic with no interest in straight lines

Straight lines clearly weren't on FLOREE's agenda. The green ceramic PHILIPPI vase rises in soft, irregular waves, widening and narrowing as it goes, almost as though a piece of fabric had been loosely gathered into folds. The result gives this 28 cm vase a sculptural presence without making it feel overly imposing. Measuring 20 cm long and 20 cm wide, it has generous proportions for a sideboard, dining table or console, while its 2.6 kg weight gives the piece a reassuring sense of substance. Look a little closer and things become even more interesting: FLOREE is created using modern 3D printing. Approximately 1 mm layers of ceramic are gradually built up until the vase's organic silhouette is complete, before being fired at 1,200°C. Rather than disguising the process, the design allows its fine horizontal layers to remain visible and tactile. These precise lines contrast beautifully with a shape that looks almost like flowing pleated fabric. Modern production and a traditional material suddenly feel remarkably comfortable together. The muted green colour adds to its natural character, creating a calm backdrop for flowers, individual stems and looser arrangements.

Give the flowers a little room to move

The undulating opening of the PHILIPPI FLOREE Vase offers plenty of freedom when arranging flowers. Rather than forcing every stem into a tightly gathered bouquet, individual flowers can sit at slightly different positions and respond to the contours of the vase itself. Tulips, striking single blooms and relaxed arrangements work particularly well. FLOREE does not, however, need flowers to justify its place in a room. Its sculptural outline and finely ridged ceramic surface give it enough character to stand as a decorative object in its own right. According to PHILIPPI, the inside is finished with a watertight glaze up to half the height of the vase. To protect its delicate external texture, it is best cleaned by hand using a soft, damp cloth.

There is something rather appealing about such an organic form emerging from a digital production process. PHILIPPI has spent many years combining functional home accessories with a distinctive approach to design, developing its collections from its headquarters in Henstedt-Ulzburg, Germany. The brand has an international presence, with its designs appearing at renowned retailers including Harrods and KaDeWe. FLOREE reveals a more experimental side of that design language: ceramic meets 3D printing, visible traces of production meet fluid contours. It is also a combination that feels very much at home at LIVOSY. A good interior object does not need to chase every passing trend. Things become far more interesting when material, form and a clever idea come together in something you can enjoy long after the flowers have changed.

FLOREE's understated green shade makes it easy to combine with natural materials and quieter colour palettes. Wood and linen soften the technological story behind the 3D printing, while glass and metal provide a more deliberate contrast. For a considered vase arrangement, FLOREE can be paired with other PHILIPPI designs such as LIVREE or MARGEAUX, although its distinctive silhouette is equally convincing on its own on a console, open shelf or generous dining table. Branches, tulips, grasses and expressive single blooms can change its character throughout the seasons, while that gently irregular outline remains a constant.
