All that is missing is the person who casually rolls Yatzy on their third attempt and remains insufferably pleased about it for the rest of the evening. Yatzy Reverra by PRINTWORKS gives the familiar dice game a distinctly grown-up setting. Measuring 17 x 13 x 4.5 cm, the case is covered in brown faux leather and finished with a large blue dice-inspired motif and two cream pips across the lid. Fine stitching, gold-coloured lettering and a subtly textured surface give it the character of an interior object rather than a conventional games box. Open it and the considered presentation continues: five black acrylic dice with white pips, a silver-coloured metal pen and a 50-page pale blue score pad each have their own place, while a ribbon keeps the pad neatly secured inside. Made from faux leather, wood, metal and acrylic, the complete set weighs 0.45 kg and closes into a compact case once the game is over. The rules will be immediately familiar to anyone who knows Yatzy, Yahtzee or Kniffel: roll the dice, keep the ones you need, roll again and record combinations including pairs, three and four of a kind, small and large straights, full house, chance and Yatzy. Easy enough for an impromptu game, absorbing enough to make a rematch almost inevitable.

A games night with surprisingly good manners

Reverra demonstrates how naturally a classic dice game can become part of a room. Closed, the brown and blue case looks closer to a small design box than a traditional board game, so there is little reason to hide it away between rounds. PRINTWORKS was founded in Stockholm in 2017 by Annette and Patrik, inspired by a familiar contradiction of modern life. As screens, feeds and constant notifications occupied more of our attention, being permanently connected did not necessarily mean spending more meaningful time together.
