That is precisely the atmosphere created by the 22 cm Breakfast Plate Décor 6 from Royal Copenhagen’s Mega Fluted Blue collection. Hand-painted lines in deep cobalt blue move asymmetrically across fine white porcelain, creating a modern, almost sketch-like sense of movement. The decoration feels open, calm and quietly expressive all at once.

The generous white surfaces give the plate a beautifully balanced appearance. Nothing feels excessive or decorative for the sake of decoration. A modern interpretation of Musselmalet heritage

Designed in 2000 by Karen Kjældgård-Larsen, Mega Fluted Blue has become one of Royal Copenhagen’s most iconic contemporary collections. Inspired by the traditional Musselmalet Fluted pattern, selected floral elements were enlarged and rearranged to create a bold graphic expression while remaining deeply connected to the brand’s heritage.

Every plate is painted entirely by hand, giving each piece its own subtle individuality. Slight variations in the brushstrokes are part of the collection’s charm and create a sense of character often missing from perfectly uniform tableware.

250 years of craftsmanship in every detail

Since 1775, Royal Copenhagen has represented exceptional porcelain craftsmanship and uncompromising quality. From the initial sketches and moulds to glazing and hand-painting, each piece passes through a meticulous production process. The blue-decorated collections are created using the traditional underglaze technique, where the decoration is painted before glazing and permanently sealed beneath a transparent finish.

The famous three blue waves on the underside of each piece remain Royal Copenhagen’s enduring symbol of artistry and craftsmanship. Despite its refined appearance, the breakfast plate is designed for everyday use — dishwasher safe, microwave safe and made to remain part of the table for years to come.
