Warmth could always be a little fluffier
A hot water bottle would usually disappear beneath the duvet. This one has far too much character for that. The WEICH CALMO Regular hot water bottle in Champagne combines a generously sized rubber inner bottle with a handcrafted cover made from wonderfully soft alpaca fur. Measuring 35 x 25 cm and holding 1.80 litres, the Regular version offers a generous area of comforting warmth for the sofa, bed and unhurried evenings at home. Its dense fur cover in a warm Champagne beige transforms a familiar everyday essential into a tactile home accessory in its own right. The fine, soft texture makes CALMO rather difficult not to cuddle, while the natural thermal properties of alpaca fibre complement the soothing warmth inside. Fill the WEICH hot water bottle with water at a maximum temperature of 60°C; boiling water and microwaves are not suitable. The inner bottle should also be checked regularly and replaced no later than two years after purchase. All very sensible. The experience itself feels considerably less practical.

Its larger dimensions set CALMO Regular apart from the compact Junior version. The 1.80-litre bottle provides a generous warming surface that sits comfortably against the stomach or back and is equally welcome beside cold feet. During the colder months, it can quickly become a favourite bed warmer or a familiar companion on the sofa. The alpaca fur cover creates a soft layer between the rubber bottle and the body, making the warmth feel particularly gentle. Alpaca fibre developed naturally for an environment with considerable temperature changes, giving it distinctive insulating properties. It also contains very little lanolin and is naturally relatively resistant to dust and dirt. Caring for the fur is pleasingly uncomplicated: an occasional shake in fresh air and careful vacuuming help maintain its appearance, while WEICH recommends professional cleaning for heavier soiling.
The Andes know a thing or two about keeping warm
The story behind WEICH Couture Alpaca began well before its first hot water bottle. Founder Jannik Weich first encountered Peru as a teenager and developed a close relationship with the country, its people and its long alpaca tradition over subsequent visits. Together with David Kuttschrütter, he went on to create WEICH Couture Alpaca, bringing Peruvian craftsmanship together with a contemporary approach to home and lifestyle accessories. The brand works with specialised partners and workshops in Peru and selects fine alpaca qualities for its fur products. According to WEICH, animals are not killed for their fur. Instead, the hides used come from alpacas that have died naturally or are a by-product of meat production. Provenance, material and craftsmanship therefore become a quiet part of CALMO's character rather than simply another selling point. It is an approach that feels very much at home at LIVOSY: we appreciate objects whose value becomes apparent through living with them and which are designed to stay around for longer than a season.
Far too lovely for the back of the bedroom cupboard
Champagne is wonderfully easy-going when it comes to interiors.
