The WEICH CALMO Regular hot water bottle in Dark Champagne looks rather more like an exceptionally tactile home accessory than a traditional bed warmer. That is very much part of its appeal. Beneath the dense alpaca fur sits a generously sized rubber hot water bottle with a 1.80-litre capacity, while its 35 x 25 cm dimensions provide plenty of surface area for comforting warmth across the stomach, back or cold feet. The handcrafted Royal Alpaca fur cover feels wonderfully dense and soft, while Dark Champagne introduces an understated palette somewhere between brown, taupe and smoky grey. It sits naturally alongside linen, wool and wood and, conveniently, does not look like something that needs to be hidden the moment it has done its job. Alpaca fibre's distinctive thermal qualities also support the real purpose of CALMO: holding warmth and creating a wonderfully soft layer against the body. The inner bottle should be filled with water at a maximum temperature of 60°C. WEICH began with a journey
The story of WEICH Couture Alpaca is rooted in a genuine connection with Peru rather than a carefully invented brand tale. Founder Jannik Weich first visited the country at the age of 16 and returned repeatedly in the years that followed. His fascination with alpaca fibre, the people of the Andes and their long tradition eventually became the basis for WEICH Couture Alpaca, founded together with David Kuttschrütter. Since 2017, the brand has worked with selected specialist partners and workshops in Peru. WEICH uses Royal Alpaca for its fur products, bringing traditional local craftsmanship together with a German approach to quality. The provenance of the fur is treated transparently as well: according to the brand, animals are not killed solely for their fur. The hides used come from alpacas that have died naturally or from fur arising as a by-product of meat production. It is this combination of material knowledge, craftsmanship and traceable provenance that makes CALMO such a natural fit for LIVOSY. The first touch says plenty. Dark Champagne is in no hurry to leave the sofa
