The WEICH CALMO Junior hot water bottle in Dark Chocolate brings together comforting warmth and a colour palette reminiscent of dark cocoa, espresso and warm timber. Beneath the dense, handcrafted Royal Alpaca fur cover sits a compact rubber inner bottle with a 0.60-litre capacity. Measuring 23 x 18 cm, the Junior size is pleasantly easy to handle and fits comfortably against the stomach, back, hands or cold feet. Its deep brown alpaca fur shifts subtly with the light, sometimes appearing richly chocolate-toned and at other times softer and more nuanced. That natural variation is part of the material's appeal. Alpaca fibres are known for their distinctive thermal qualities and create a wonderfully soft surface around the warmth within. For safe use, fill the inner bottle with water at a maximum temperature of 60°C; boiling water and microwave heating are not suitable. The inner hot water bottle should also be checked regularly and replaced no later than two years after purchase. Sensible instructions, admittedly. From the highlands to home, with a story worth keeping
WEICH Couture Alpaca grew from founder Jannik Weich's personal connection with Peru. He first encountered the country as a teenager and returned repeatedly in the years that followed, fascinated by alpaca fibre, local culture and the traditional relationship between people and the animals. Together with David Kuttschrütter, he developed a brand that combines Peruvian craftsmanship and carefully selected materials with a contemporary approach to home accessories. WEICH works with specialised workshops and partners in Peru and uses Royal Alpaca for its fur products. The provenance of the material is treated transparently too: according to the brand, the hides used come from alpacas that have died naturally or whose fur is a by-product of meat production; animals are not killed specifically for their fur. It is this balance of material, provenance and craftsmanship that makes CALMO feel so naturally at home at LIVOSY. Beautiful objects are welcome here.
