Twenty-three centimetres can be surprisingly persuasive when wrapped in wonderfully soft alpaca fur. The WEICH CALMO Junior hot water bottle in Offwhite Beige combines a compact hot water bottle with a handcrafted alpaca-fur cover, making it rather difficult to put away once the warming part is over. Measuring 23 × 18 cm with a 0.6-litre capacity, the Junior version is smaller and easier to hold close to the body than the regular CALMO. Its pale Offwhite Beige colour feels natural and calm, while the character of the fur creates subtle variations from creamy off-white to warm beige. Inside sits a rubber hot water bottle; outside, dense and beautifully soft alpaca fur takes care of the tactile side of things. CALMO is handcrafted in Peru, bringing comforting warmth and a texture that makes a fairly convincing case for the sofa even before the bottle has been filled.

Its compact proportions make this WEICH hot water bottle particularly useful for warming smaller areas of the body, whether held against the stomach or back, placed by cold feet or simply tucked into your arms when the weather outside has clearly entered coat territory. Alpaca is naturally adapted to considerable changes in temperature. Its fine fibres have distinctive thermal properties, while the dense fur helps keep the warmth comfortably close to the body. Alpaca fibre also contains very little lanolin and naturally repels dirt and dust. The result is a wonderfully tactile cover with the material character at the heart of WEICH Couture Alpaca.
For safe and lasting use, fill the removable inner hot water bottle with water at a maximum temperature of 60°C. Boiling water must not be used, and the bottle should never be heated in a microwave. The inner bottle has a maximum recommended service life of two years from the date of purchase and should also be checked regularly for cracks, porous areas or other signs of damage. The alpaca fur itself asks for pleasingly little attention. Gentle shaking and careful, regular brushing help preserve its natural texture; professional cleaning is recommended for more substantial soiling.
A journey with an exceptionally soft ending
The story of WEICH Couture Alpaca begins in Peru. Founder Jannik Weich first encountered the country as a teenager and later returned to learn more about its culture, people and, in particular, the traditional relationship with alpacas in the Andes. Together with David Kuttschrütter, he developed WEICH from 2017 onwards, creating a brand that brings Peruvian craftsmanship together with a German approach to quality. Its local partners and workshops specialise in working with alpaca, and WEICH uses Royal Alpaca for its fur products.
The brand also takes a transparent approach to the provenance of the fur. According to WEICH, no animals are killed specifically for their fur. Instead, the hides used come from animals that have died naturally or are a by-product of meat production. It is this context behind the material that makes the collection particularly interesting to us at LIVOSY.
