It looks a little as though somebody decided to wrap warmth in a cloud. The WEICH CALMO Regular hot water bottle in Offwhite Beige combines a classic hot water bottle with a handcrafted soft alpaca-fur cover, creating a home accessory that need not disappear into a cupboard once its work is done. Measuring 35 × 25 cm with a generous 1.8-litre capacity, the Regular size provides plenty of surface area for comforting warmth across the stomach or back, or for warming cold feet. Beneath the dense fur sits a rubber inner hot water bottle, while the natural character of alpaca takes centre stage on the outside. Offwhite Beige shifts gently between cream, natural white and warm beige. Subtle variations in shade and fur structure are part of the material's natural character, giving each CALMO a slightly individual appearance. The WEICH hot water bottle is handcrafted in Peru, where working with alpaca is rooted in a long tradition of craftsmanship.

Alpaca fur happens to possess a quality particularly well suited to a hot water bottle. Its fine fibres are naturally adapted to the considerable temperature changes of the Peruvian Andes and have insulating properties of their own. CALMO's soft, dense cover sits comfortably against the body, creating a beautifully tactile layer between the hot water bottle and your skin. Those 1.8 litres of warm water become a welcome companion for long winter evenings, quiet reading sessions, chilly bedrooms or simply those days when a little extra warmth feels exactly right. Alpaca also contains very little lanolin and its natural fibre structure helps repel dust and dirt.
To keep CALMO safe and enjoyable to use, the removable inner bottle should only be filled with water at a maximum temperature of 60°C. Do not use boiling water and never heat the bottle in a microwave. The inner hot water bottle has a maximum recommended service life of two years from purchase and should be checked regularly for porous areas, cracks or other signs of damage. The alpaca-fur cover itself is pleasingly straightforward to care for. Occasional shaking, careful vacuuming and gentle brushing help maintain its natural texture, while WEICH recommends professional cleaning for more substantial soiling.
A journey that became a love of material
The story of WEICH Couture Alpaca began well before its first hot water bottle. Founder Jannik Weich first discovered Peru as a teenager, developing a close connection to the country, its people and traditional alpaca farming during later visits. Together with David Kuttschrütter, he turned that fascination into a brand from 2017 onwards, combining Peruvian craftsmanship with a German approach to quality. WEICH works with selected partners and producers specialising in alpaca, using Royal Alpaca for its fur products.
The provenance of the material is part of that story. According to WEICH, alpacas are not killed specifically for their fur. The hides used come from animals that have died naturally or are obtained as a by-product of meat production. The annually harvested wool, meanwhile, provides an important source of income for many alpaca farmers in the Peruvian Andes. This relationship between material, provenance and craftsmanship feels very much at home at LIVOSY. Offwhite Beige settles in rather easily
