Silver Grey, but certainly not cold
The WEICH CALMO Regular hot water bottle in Silver Grey combines 1.8 litres of comforting warmth with a dense alpaca-fur cover, making it feel more like a tactile home accessory than a traditional hot water bottle. Measuring 35 × 25 cm, the Regular size offers a generous surface for your stomach, back, feet or simply both hands at once. Inside sits a rubber hot water bottle, while the fur takes care of the rather more pleasant part on the outside. Silver Grey shifts between pale grey, soft silver and natural neutral tones, appearing slightly cooler or almost greige depending on the light. Subtle variations in colour and fur structure are part of the natural material and give each bottle its own character. CALMO is handcrafted in Peru, where working with alpaca is closely connected to traditional craftsmanship. And because it looks every bit as soft as it feels, there is really no need to hide it away after use.
1.8 litres of warmth, very well accompanied
Alpaca fur is surprisingly well suited to a hot water bottle. Its fine fibres are naturally adapted to strong changes in temperature and have insulating properties of their own. The dense cover creates a soft layer between the body and the inner bottle, making the warmth feel especially gentle and comforting. Alpaca also contains very little lanolin and its fibre structure naturally helps repel dust and dirt. CALMO is therefore a lovely companion for long evenings on the sofa, as a bed warmer before sleep, or whenever cold feet decide to take over the evening.
For safe use, fill the inner hot water bottle with water at a maximum temperature of 60°C. Do not use boiling water and never heat CALMO in a microwave. The maximum recommended service life of the inner bottle is two years from purchase; it should also be checked regularly for cracks, porous areas or other signs of damage. The alpaca-fur cover itself requires relatively little care. Occasional shaking, careful vacuuming and gentle brushing will help preserve its natural texture, while professional cleaning is recommended for heavier soiling.
From Peru, with a real feel for materials
The story of WEICH Couture Alpaca began with founder Jannik Weich's connection to Peru. His travels, personal encounters and fascination with alpacas eventually developed, together with David Kuttschrütter, into a brand from 2017 onwards that combines traditional Peruvian craftsmanship with a German approach to quality. The brand works with local partners and workshops specialising in alpaca fur and wool, using Royal Alpaca for its fur products.
The provenance of the material is also treated transparently. According to WEICH, no animals are killed specifically for their fur. The hides used come from alpacas that have died naturally or are obtained as a by-product of meat production. The annually harvested wool, meanwhile, remains an important source of income for many alpaca farmers in the Andes. This connection between material, provenance and traceable craftsmanship fits naturally with our view at LIVOSY: beautiful objects are lovely, but we appreciate them even more when their story has substance.
A shade of grey with a surprisingly warm side
Silver Grey is easy to combine and brings a calm note to very different interiors.
