In Silver Grey, MILO has the distinct air of a bunny who has already chosen his favourite place in the living room and is simply waiting for you to notice. Part of the MILO collection by WEICH Couture Alpaca, this approximately 30 cm bunny is handcrafted from alpaca fur. His pale silver-grey colouring shifts gently with the light, moving between cool grey, soft greige and almost creamy tones. Long floppy ears, generously shaped paws and a black silk bow tie add just enough formality to all that fluff. WEICH Couture Alpaca grew from founder Jannik Weich's personal connection with Peru. His travels and encounters with local people, alpaca farmers and the country's long-established craft traditions eventually inspired a brand created together with David Kuttschrütter, combining natural materials and Peruvian craftsmanship with a German approach to quality. WEICH works with selected partners and workshops in Peru specialising in alpaca. According to the brand, animals are not killed specifically for the fur used in its products. Instead, the material comes from animals that have died naturally or is obtained as a by-product of meat production. For farmers in the Peruvian highlands, the annual shearing and sale of alpaca wool remains a central source of income. MILO does not need to tell that story loudly. It simply provides meaningful context for an unusual natural material: its origin, craftsmanship and considered use of existing resources.
