Small, fluffy and remarkably well dressed

Paco in size Small does not need much room to make himself noticed. At 20 cm high and 15 cm wide, wrapped from head to toe in wonderfully soft alpaca fur and finished with a black bow tie, this little fellow has clearly prepared for his entrance. The handcrafted Paco soft toy by WEICH Couture Alpaca is made with fine alpaca fur, filled with foam and finished with a silk bow tie as its signature detail. In Silver Grey, the fur moves through soft grey and natural shades that appear lighter or deeper depending on the light, giving Paco a beautifully lively texture. His compact proportions make him an easy companion for a shelf, bedside table, desk or sideboard, although the dense, exceptionally soft fur may make simply leaving him there rather difficult. Paco sits somewhere between cuddly toy and home accessory: a small plush companion for adults, a thoughtful gift or a wonderfully tactile friend for older children. Twenty centimetres can create quite a lot of atmosphere

The alpaca fur feels dense, light and exceptionally soft to the touch. Alpaca fibre naturally contains very little lanolin and has dirt- and dust-repellent qualities. Looking after Paco is pleasantly uncomplicated too. For a smaller piece such as this, gently brushing the fur regularly and giving it an occasional careful shake is generally sufficient. For heavier soiling, WEICH Couture Alpaca recommends professional cleaning. This helps preserve the natural texture of the fur and keeps Paco looking characteristically fluffy.

A little fellow with quite a journey behind him

The story of WEICH Couture Alpaca began in Peru. Founder Jannik Weich first encountered the country as a teenager and, through later travels, developed a close connection with its people, alpacas and the traditional craftsmanship surrounding their remarkable fibres. Together with David Kuttschrütter, this experience eventually grew into WEICH Couture Alpaca. Today, the brand brings together traditional Peruvian craftsmanship and a German approach to quality, working with specialist producers and workshops in Peru.

The provenance of the fur is part of that story too. According to WEICH Couture Alpaca, animals are not killed specifically for their hides. The company uses hides from alpacas that have died naturally or those arising as a by-product of meat production. For alpaca farmers in the Peruvian Andes, the annually shorn wool remains an important source of income.
