The ENGELS ORIGINAL taper candles by Engels Kerzen translate this natural grey-beige shade into a slender 30 cm dinner candle that feels equally at home on pale timber, beside colourful ceramics or amongst glass and metal. The set contains four cast, solid-coloured taper candles made from paraffin wax, manufactured in Germany and carefully finished by hand at the manufactory. Each candle measures 2.2 cm in diameter and features a tapered base for easier placement in a suitable candle holder. Characteristic of the ENGELS ORIGINAL collection is its hand-polished surface, lending the understated Pebble shade a subtle silky sheen. The paraffin is REACH-certified, the candles are vegan and each provides a burn time of approximately 13 hours. Plenty of time for dinner to move on to another bottle of water, wine or another round of good stories. And pleasantly little colour for days when that is precisely the point.

Somewhere between everything, at home with almost anything

Sitting between grey, greige and warm stone, Pebble is an easy companion for different materials, colours and seasons. Pair these taper candles with natural wood, linen and pale ceramics for a calm, organic table setting. Black or metallic candle holders create a more graphic contrast, while burgundy, green, blush or ivory candles introduce carefully considered colour. The taper candles are cast and feature a distinctive top with a smoothly polished rounded rim and a candle plate that curves gently inwards. Before leaving the manufactory, every candle is carefully polished by hand, creating the silky surface that gives the muted Pebble shade additional depth. The material receives the same consideration: the paraffin is refined in Germany, REACH-certified and contributes to both the calm burning characteristics and subtly translucent appearance associated with ENGELS ORIGINAL candles. Craftsmanship, after all, does not need to shout to make itself visible.
