The biggest stories often start rather small

A crooked first tooth, jam around the ears, tiny feet in ridiculously large wellies: these are the scenes that somehow become family folklore. The PRINTWORKS Tiny Stories Photo Album from the Embroidered Collection gives them a wonderfully colourful place to stay. Its beige cloth cover is covered in elaborate multicoloured embroidery, with a little elephant, a bird, flowers, leaves and feathers appearing in bright turquoise, pink, green, red, yellow, purple and deep blue. Embroidered words including “Tiny Stories” and “Little Moments Big Memories” complete the design. Measuring 33 × 27 × 5 cm and weighing 1.3 kg, this PRINTWORKS photo album has the presence of a coffee table book and is far too decorative to disappear into a cupboard once filled. Inside are 30 pages ready for photographs and personal memories. Cloth, chipboard, metal and wood-free paper are used throughout the FSC®-certified album. The result is a baby photo album that feels playful without looking overly traditional, making it just as much a part of the room as a place for the memories growing inside it.

For stories no algorithm could quite tell

Baby photographs are always available on a phone. In theory, at least, until the one you want is hiding somewhere between screenshots, recipes and 37 almost identical photographs of that first spoonful of purée. Tiny Stories makes choosing the pictures part of the memory itself. Photographs can be arranged by hand, little stories added alongside them and dates or favourite details written down before they are forgotten. Unlike a digitally printed photo book, the album does not need to be completed in one sitting. It can grow gradually, with parents and grandparents adding photographs and memories as new chapters appear. Analogue suits it rather well

PRINTWORKS was founded in Stockholm in 2017 by Annette and Patrik after noticing how increasingly digital lives were leaving less room for slower moments together. The brand reimagines familiar analogue objects including photo albums, Memory games, chess, backgammon and playing cards with a contemporary visual identity. They are made to be used, yet designed so beautifully that there is little reason to hide them afterwards. Tiny Stories captures that philosophy particularly well. It is both a keepsake and an interior object, sitting naturally amongst coffee table books from publishers such as Assouline or TASCHEN. There is one rather important difference, of course: the people, places and stories between these covers belong to you. Tiny hands today, a very good story tomorrow

Tiny Stories feels particularly suited to a baby's first years, but its pages can just as easily follow family celebrations, early holidays and all the unplanned photographs that eventually become favourites. The calm beige background balances the vivid embroidery, making the album easy to place on a console, bookshelf or amongst other coffee table books. Rather than looking like traditional baby stationery, it becomes part of the room. Additional insert sheets, photo corners and baby-themed accessories give you even more freedom to create layouts around photographs, notes and milestones.
