A green that looks rather good by candlelight

Spruce may sound like a walk through the woods, but here it feels wonderfully at home indoors. The ENGELS ORIGINAL pillar candle by Engels Kerzen brings a rich, natural green to your interior, while its 12 cm height and 8 cm diameter give it just enough presence for a dining table, sideboard or windowsill. The set contains two cast pillar candles made from solid-coloured paraffin wax, carefully crafted in Germany and polished by hand at the Engels candle manufactory. This creates the smooth, subtly silky surface that has become characteristic of the ENGELS ORIGINAL collection. The gently recessed candle top and rounded, polished rim are also part of its distinctive shape. The paraffin wax is REACH-certified and vegan, while an integrated burn stop adds another considered detail. With a burn time of approximately 65 hours per candle, there is plenty of light for dinners, long conversations or an evening that requires no particular occasion at all. And although Spruce feels completely at ease during autumn and Christmas, this shade of green has no intention of spending the rest of the year in a cupboard.

65 hours leaves room for quite a few plans

At 8 cm in diameter, these pillar candles have a confident presence without taking over the table. Place one on a simple candle plate for a calm focal point, or use the pair as the beginning of a more relaxed arrangement with different heights, colours and candle shapes. Spruce works beautifully with warm wood, white, cream and natural shades, takes on a festive mood alongside red or burgundy and feels unexpectedly fresh with pink, pale blue or stronger accent colours. Arrange the candles on a tray, inside a suitable lantern, on candle plates or as part of an Advent wreath and the result feels considered without looking overly arranged.

For an even burn, Engels Kerzen recommends trimming the wick to approximately 1 cm before first lighting and checking it again before each subsequent use. Any residue on the wick should be removed before lighting. Should the candle rim become unusually high or uneven, it can be carefully trimmed while the wax is still warm. The polished surface can also be gently refreshed with fine nylon if required. Small details, perhaps, but worthwhile ones when each candle is designed to accompany you for around 65 hours.

Where candlelight still comes with craftsmanship

Engels Kerzen has been producing candles in its German manufactory since 1933, combining traditional candle-making knowledge with a contemporary approach to colour, form and interiors. Around nine decades of experience are visible in ENGELS ORIGINAL not through grand gestures, but through the details: the relationship between wax and wick, the cast shape and the surface carefully polished by hand.
