Four in Flechte, and the room finds its rhythm
Four matching candles can change a space rather more than you might expect. This set of four ENGELS KLASSIK ribbed candles by Engels Kerzen brings together four 20 cm pillar candles in Flechte, a muted green that settles naturally alongside wood, ceramics, glass and textiles. Each ribbed candle measures 8 cm in diameter and is handcrafted in Germany from paraffin wax. The vertical grooves give the tall, slender shape a clear graphic character, while the matt Velvet Lacquer finish absorbs light rather than reflecting it strongly. This gives Flechte a soft, rich depth. The surface is also resistant to fingerprints, which is rather useful when arranging things – because the first position is rarely the final one. The candles are dipped, coloured throughout, vegan and made from REACH-certified paraffin. With approximately 95 hours of burn time per candle, the set also brings plenty of time for long evenings, several celebrations and a very relaxed approach to Advent lighting.
Four matching heights, many different arrangements
At 20 cm high, these ribbed candles have a calm but noticeable presence. Grouped together on a large tray, console or sideboard, they almost resemble a series of slender columns. Along a long dining table, they can be spaced out to create a repeating line that gives structure without making the setting feel crowded. The set is equally well suited to Advent wreaths and larger Christmas arrangements. Flechte brings a natural colour that is not limited to one season. This set of four pairs beautifully with other sizes and shades from the Engels ribbed candle collection. Lower versions add variation in height, while the repeated grooved surface keeps the arrangement visually connected. Fine Line taper candles, classic pillar candles, sculptural object candles and candle holders or trays in metal, glass or stone also make easy companions. At Christmas, all four can sit together in a wreath or amongst branches; afterwards, they can simply move to the dining table, windowsill or sideboard. Flechte works just as well with cream tableware as it does with smoked glass, natural wood and dark candle holders. Before lighting, trim each wick to approximately 1 cm and check it again before every burn. Always use a suitable heat-resistant surface and leave enough space between burning candles. That leaves around 95 hours per candle for good light – and rather a lot of ways to use it.
