A milk carton dressed for breakfast

At first glance, there are two tiny milk cartons sitting on the table. Look again and it becomes clear that someone has had a rather charming idea about serving milk and sugar. The PHILIPPI BUTLER milk and sugar set translates the familiar shape of classic drinks cartons into highly polished stainless steel, creating two small design objects for coffee and breakfast. The set consists of a milk jug and sugar bowl, both finished in silver and measuring approximately 5 cm wide, 5 cm long and 5 cm high each. Designed by Flip, BUTLER plays with familiar shapes through crisp folds, geometric lines and a mirror-like surface that picks up the light and colours around it. The milk jug adds a small handle to its carton-inspired silhouette, while the sugar bowl echoes the distinctive folded opening of the original packaging. Together, they look a little like a miniature installation from a modern kitchen – only far too interesting to disappear into a cupboard once breakfast is over.

Taking your coffee black? There is still the sugar

BUTLER gives two everyday essentials a form worth looking at twice. Milk can be served directly at the table, sugar has its own place alongside it, and two practical objects become a small composition without making breakfast feel overly arranged. Their compact proportions allow the PHILIPPI milk and sugar set to sit comfortably alongside cups, plates and a coffee pot without taking over the table. Polished stainless steel works particularly well beside porcelain, ceramics and glass, whether the setting is a quick morning coffee or one of those breakfasts that quietly turns into lunch.
