3,842 photos on your phone, yet nobody can find that one brilliant picture from last summer? The PRINTWORKS It's About Us Photo Album gives shared memories somewhere rather nicer to live than between screenshots, restaurant menus and accidental pictures of pockets. Measuring 33 x 27 x 5 cm, this large photo album has the presence of a carefully chosen coffee table book, so there is absolutely no need to hide it away. Its cloth-covered exterior combines graphic blocks of black, cream and pale grey-blue, finished with warm gold foil lettering. Inside are 30 sheets of high-quality black photo paper measuring 28 x 21 cm, ready for family photographs, weddings, holidays, friendships and all those pictures that were never serious candidates for the delete button. Use both sides and you have 60 pages to make your own. Photographs can be attached with photo corners or stickers, while the black paper creates a striking background for both colour and monochrome images. Made from paper, cardboard and cotton and FSC® certified, the album weighs approximately 1 kg. It feels reassuringly substantial in the hand while looking decidedly contemporary on the coffee table.
Scrolling is quick. Turning pages is rather better company.
An analogue photo album asks for a little more attention than a digital photo book, and that is precisely where the pleasure begins. Choose the photographs, change the order, add handwritten notes, tickets or small keepsakes and decide for yourselves how the story unfolds. PRINTWORKS was founded in Stockholm in 2017 by Annette and Patrik, inspired by a desire to make a little more room for analogue moments in an increasingly digital everyday life.
