The PHILIPPI GRACIA S Advent Wreath proves that an Advent wreath does not need fir branches to bring December to the table. At 26 cm in diameter and 7 cm high, the smaller version of the GRACIA series is pleasantly compact while retaining a distinctive presence. Its body is made from gold-coloured, powder-coated steel, with countless fine horizontal lines making the surface appear almost as though it has been wound from delicate strands of metal. This texture gives depth to the rounded, gently organic form and catches the glow of the four candles from different angles. Four raised candle plates sit around the wreath, transforming the sculptural object into a contemporary candle holder for Advent. GRACIA S is particularly well suited to smaller dining tables, sideboards, coffee tables and consoles, where its compact proportions leave room for the rest of Christmas to happen around it. It needs surprisingly little decoration to make an impression: four pale candles, some warm light and December can begin. Fir branches are, of course, still invited. They simply no longer have to do all the work.

A smaller stage, with just as much Advent

GRACIA S takes the familiar ritual of four Advent candles and gives it a form that feels at home in a contemporary Christmas setting. One flame begins the season, with another added each week as Christmas draws closer. The gold-coloured surface changes along with the ritual, catching the candlelight and revealing more of its fine linear texture. Keep things pared back with white or ivory candles, or add individual fir branches, eucalyptus, pine cones or small ornaments for a more natural arrangement. Its manageable size makes GRACIA S particularly easy to style without taking over the table, leaving plenty of space for plates, glasses and everything else that tends to gather there in December.

Gold without the grand entrance
