The PHILIPPI ELMAR Advent Calendar takes the countdown to Christmas rather calmly. Instead of 24 doors, chocolates and the annual mystery of where number 17 has disappeared to, a small elk travels day by day along a beautifully simple number scale from 1 to 24. Made from natural-coloured beechwood, this wooden advent calendar brings warmth and a wonderfully understated material quality to your Christmas decorations, allowing the natural grain of the wood to remain part of the design. Measuring 37 cm long, 3 cm wide and 14 cm high, ELMAR is slim enough for a sideboard, windowsill, shelf or festive console, yet has enough presence to hold its own amongst candles and winter greenery. Designed by Flip, it combines a pared-back silhouette with one particularly charming detail: the little elk accompanies you through December, moving one step closer to Christmas each day until reaching number 24. There is nothing to fill and nothing to throw away afterwards, just a reusable design made for returning to each Advent. At only 0.36 kg, ELMAR can easily move around the home too, should your Christmas decorating develop a mind of its own halfway through December.

Anticipation looks rather good in beechwood

ELMAR turns a familiar Christmas tradition into a design object that feels grown-up without losing its playful side. Simply move the little elk forward by one number each day and watch Christmas gradually come closer. It is a small ritual, but that is precisely where its charm lies. Unlike a conventional filled advent calendar, the PHILIPPI Advent Calendar does not depend on sweets, gifts or disposable packaging to make the countdown enjoyable. Set it out, send the elk on its December journey and begin again next year. The natural beechwood works beautifully with evergreen branches, candlelight, glass and metal, as well as quieter contemporary Christmas schemes. ELMAR can therefore stand confidently on its own or become part of a larger winter scene.

One number closer to Christmas

The design comes from Flip, PHILIPPI's in-house design team. Based in Henstedt-Ulzburg near Hamburg, the owner-managed design company creates home accessories and gifts with a distinctive approach to form and function, often finding character in an unexpectedly simple idea. ELMAR captures that spirit particularly well. A long wooden base, a row of numbers, a tree and one tiny elk are all it takes to reinterpret the traditional advent calendar in a refreshingly restrained way. PHILIPPI's design objects are sold internationally, and its combination of clean forms, carefully chosen materials and functional details makes the brand a natural fit within the world of LIVOSY. Christmas traditions, after all, can feel familiar without looking quite the same every year.

A little winter forest is welcome too

Pair the ELMAR Advent Calendar with candles and lanterns, small Christmas trees, ornaments or other PHILIPPI wooden figures to create a calm festive arrangement. Natural tones keep the setting relaxed, while glass, stainless steel and warm candlelight add contrast to the beechwood. On a long sideboard, ELMAR can become part of a pared-back winter landscape; on a windowsill, it needs very little company at all. And once Christmas is over?
