Plenty of room for flowers with big ideas

A few tulips will do nicely. A wonderfully generous bouquet, however, is where the PHILIPPI MARGEAUX XXL Vase really comes into its own. Measuring 37 cm long, 34 cm wide and 25 cm high, this is a substantial flower vase for a dining table, sideboard, console or anywhere else with enough room to let its unusual shape breathe. MARGEAUX XXL is made from stainless steel with a highly polished surface, but it is the way this solid material is treated that gives the design its character. Folded by hand, the steel takes on a surprisingly fluid silhouette with soft pleats, changing heights and an open shape that allows flowers to be arranged naturally and generously. Its mirror-like silver surface catches the colours, light and movement around it, making the metal appear different throughout the day. At 2.36 kg, the vase also has a reassuring sense of substance. Designed by Flip for PHILIPPI, MARGEAUX is particularly striking with tulips, peonies, long-stemmed flowers or expressive branches. Although, to be fair, it hardly disappears into the background when the flowers are gone.

Stainless steel with an excellent sense of drape

The contradiction is precisely what makes MARGEAUX so appealing. Stainless steel is usually associated with precision, smooth surfaces and rather strict lines. Here, it suddenly appears soft. The handmade folds create subtle variations across the vase, giving each piece its own character. Light travels across the polished surface, reflections shift as you move around it and the colours of a bouquet appear once again in the steel. The result brings movement into an interior without relying on bold patterns or additional decoration.

Its XXL proportions make MARGEAUX particularly suited to larger floral arrangements. Generous bouquets have space to open up, while long stems and branches can play with the different heights of the folded rim. Yet the vase works equally well as an object in its own right. Spring might bring armfuls of tulips, summer a loose garden bouquet and the colder months a few sculptural branches. In between, simply leave it empty. The silver finish does not prescribe a particular interior style either: paired with wood it feels warmer, beside glass it becomes more reflective, and against stone or ceramics its fluid shape comes beautifully into focus.

With a vase this size, the answer can quite happily be: nothing for now. MARGEAUX XXL has enough presence to sit alone on a large dining table or sideboard. For a more layered arrangement, its reflective stainless-steel surface works beautifully against quieter, tactile materials. Wood adds warmth, coloured glass creates playful reflections and ceramics provide a softer visual counterpoint.
