Holiday photos deserve better than the camera roll

Palms in the evening light, the first coffee overlooking the sea, a slightly blurry photograph after a rather long dinner: travelling rarely leaves us with only the pictures we intended to take. The PRINTWORKS Voyage Photo Album from the Embroidered Collection gives those memories somewhere worth returning to. Its beige cloth cover takes its cues from a contemporary travel magazine, with a large embroidered palm in warm beige set against turquoise and framed by vivid blue. Across the top, oversized turquoise “VOYAGE” lettering is joined by smaller details including “Captured Moments Through the Lens” and “Sun-Warmed Days & Starlit Dreams”. Measuring 33 × 27 × 5 cm and weighing 1.3 kg, this PRINTWORKS photo album has the presence of a proper coffee table book. Inside are 30 sheets of high-quality white photo paper measuring 28 × 21 cm. Both sides can be used, giving you 60 surfaces for photographs, tickets, handwritten notes and the little details that tend to make the best travel stories. The ring-bound construction can accommodate up to 40 sheets, and stickers are also included. Plenty of room, then, for a holiday containing rather more “just one last photo” moments than expected.

Travel memories are a particularly good reason to choose a traditional photo album over a digitally printed photo book. A printed book eventually becomes a finished object; Voyage can continue to evolve. You decide how large each photograph should be and where it belongs, leaving room for handwritten notes, postcards, tickets or other small pieces brought home in a suitcase. PRINTWORKS was founded in Stockholm in 2017 by Annette and Patrik with the idea of creating more room for analogue moments in increasingly digital lives. Photo albums therefore sit naturally alongside chess, backgammon, Memory and playing cards in the PRINTWORKS world: familiar objects that bring people together, reimagined with enough visual character to remain on display afterwards. Voyage captures that philosophy beautifully. Rather than looking like traditional photo storage, it has the presence of a travel book or editorial piece and sits naturally amongst coffee table books from publishers such as Assouline or TASCHEN. There is one important difference between the covers: Voyage tells your story rather than somebody else's. That combination of design and personal meaning feels particularly at home at LIVOSY. Voyage feels made for summer holidays, road trips, honeymoons and journeys where three carefully planned days somehow produce enough photographs for an entire album. Closed, it works just as naturally as an interior object on a console, bookshelf or stack of coffee table books. Open it, and there is plenty of freedom to make the story entirely your own. Additional photo paper and photo corners allow the album to evolve over time, with capacity for up to 40 sheets.
