Kähler: Hammershøi Christmas

Snowboy

A little snow boy who never melts

With his pointed brown hat, checked scarf and cheerful little smile, the KÄHLER Hammershøi Christmas Snow Boy looks as though he's just returned from a particularly lovely day in the snow. Fortunately, he has no intention of melting when the heating comes on. Made from white porcelain, this charming Christmas figurine stands 9 cm tall and measures 4 cm in diameter, bringing a little Scandinavian winter magic into your home. His body is formed from three softly rounded snowballs, decorated with the distinctive fluted detailing that gives the Hammershøi collection its recognisable character. A warm brown hat, rosy cheeks, a tiny orange nose and dark buttons give him a wonderfully friendly expression. Around his neck sits a pink and blue checked scarf, while two slender brown arms extend from his sides. The lower part of the figure features a delicate evergreen garland decorated with tiny Christmas ornaments, including a sweet teddy bear and a golden-yellow Christmas tree. Illustrated by Danish artist Rikke Jacobsen, these carefully considered details add gentle touches of colour to the white porcelain. The result is a small decorative snowman with plenty of personality and something new to discover each time you look a little closer.

Small in size, full of winter stories

The KÄHLER Hammershøi Christmas Snow Boy doesn't need an elaborate display to bring a little festive warmth into a room. At just 9 cm tall, he fits naturally on a windowsill, sideboard, bookshelf or Christmas dining table. Place him among evergreen branches, natural wooden decorations and the gentle glow of candles to create a relaxed winter scene. His compact proportions also make him a lovely addition to a festive table setting, where he can sit comfortably between plates, glasses and seasonal treats without taking over the arrangement. The soft combination of white porcelain, warm brown and muted colours works beautifully with contemporary Nordic interiors as well as more traditional Christmas decorations collected over the years. Unlike a real snowman, this little fellow will be ready to make another appearance next December, whatever the weather has in mind. He also makes a thoughtful Christmas gift for anyone who appreciates Scandinavian design, charming seasonal details and decorations with a little character.

A little ceramic heritage, a little childhood magic

Behind this cheerful snow boy lies a rich tradition of Danish ceramic design. KÄHLER's story began in 1839, when Herman Kähler founded his pottery workshop in Næstved, Denmark. Over the generations, the company became known for bringing artists and craftspeople together, creating ceramics with a distinctive artistic identity. One of its most influential designers was Svend Hammershøi, whose characteristic grooves remain an important part of the brand's design language today. Contemporary designer Hans-Christian Bauer has carried this sculptural tradition forward, while Danish illustrator Rikke Jacobsen has introduced a delicate, nature-inspired Christmas world through her watercolour-style decorations. Her illustrations evoke snowy woodland walks, familiar Christmas ornaments and the comforting memories of childhood celebrations. Introduced in 2024, the Hammershøi Christmas Snow Boy captures this meeting of heritage and playful imagination. At LIVOSY, we're particularly fond of pieces like this: thoughtful little objects that don't rely on passing trends to earn their place in the Christmas decorations year after year.

There's always room for one more Christmas guest

The Hammershøi Christmas Snow Boy is delightful on his own, but he also enjoys good company. Pair him with other KÄHLER Christmas figurines to create a charming winter scene on a shelf, mantelpiece or sideboard. For a coordinated festive table, combine him with plates, mugs and cups from the Hammershøi Christmas collection, where the same delicate botanical illustrations appear across the white porcelain. Simple candle holders, an Advent calendar candle and a few natural evergreen branches complement his soft colours beautifully. If your decorating style is more understated, let the little snow boy stand alone on a wooden tray or alongside a few carefully chosen home accessories. His sculptural grooves, cheerful expression and intricate Christmas details give him plenty of presence without needing much around him. A small porcelain decoration for the Advent season, quiet winter evenings and all the festive moments in between.
