Kähler: Hammershøi Christmas

Snowgirl

Rosy cheeks and a very warm welcome

Her hat is firmly in place, her cheeks are rosy and her arms are stretched out as though she's ready to welcome everyone to Christmas. The KÄHLER Hammershøi Christmas Snow Girl certainly seems to be enjoying the winter season. Made from white porcelain, this charming Christmas figurine stands 8 cm tall and measures 4 cm in diameter, making her a delightful little addition to shelves, windowsills and festive table settings. Her body is formed from three softly rounded snowballs, each featuring the distinctive fluted detailing of the Hammershøi collection. A pointed brown hat, tiny orange nose and delicate pink cheeks give her a wonderfully cheerful expression. Around her neck sits a red collar with a small bow, while three dark, heart-shaped buttons decorate the front of her body. Two slender brown arms extend from her sides, adding to her friendly character. Along the lower snowball, a delicate evergreen garland winds its way around the white porcelain, decorated with pine cones and charming Christmas illustrations. Look closely and you'll even discover a tiny mouse wearing a festive hat, one of the playful details created by Danish artist Rikke Jacobsen. Turn the figure around and there's another lovely surprise: a beautifully illustrated Christmas present. It's a small porcelain decoration with plenty of personality, rewarding anyone who takes a moment to look a little closer.

A little guest with plenty of Christmas spirit

The Hammershøi Christmas Snow Girl brings a cheerful touch to seasonal decorating without asking you to rearrange the entire living room. Her compact size makes her easy to display on a windowsill, sideboard, narrow shelf or festive dining table. The soft white porcelain and gentle touches of colour work naturally with wooden decorations, linen textiles and fresh evergreen branches. Add the warm glow of candles, a simple bowl of Christmas baubles or a few pine cones to create a relaxed Nordic winter scene. She also looks lovely as a standalone piece, where her sculptural shape and delicate illustrations can be appreciated without distraction. There's a gentle sense of humour in her cheerful expression, balanced by the restrained design that characterises the Hammershøi collection. And unlike the snowmen and snowwomen built in the garden, this little character can be carefully packed away after Christmas, ready to return next year. She also makes a thoughtful seasonal gift for someone who appreciates Scandinavian design, decorative ceramics and Christmas ornaments with a story to tell.

A little snow girl with a remarkable heritage

There's quite a lot of Danish design history behind this small Christmas figure. KÄHLER was founded in 1839, when Herman Kähler established his ceramics workshop in Næstved, Denmark. Over the generations, the workshop became a creative meeting place for artists and craftspeople, developing a distinctive approach to ceramic design. Among its influential artists was Svend Hammershøi, whose characteristic grooves became an enduring part of the brand's visual identity. Contemporary designer Hans-Christian Bauer has carried this sculptural tradition forward through the modern Hammershøi collection. Danish artist Rikke Jacobsen brings another layer of character with her delicate, nature-inspired Christmas illustrations. Her watercolour-style motifs draw inspiration from snowy woodland landscapes, traditional festive decorations and the small, familiar stories that make Christmas feel special. The Hammershøi Christmas Snow Girl reflects this combination of thoughtful design and playful imagination. Her clean porcelain silhouette provides a gentle backdrop for the detailed illustrations, creating a decoration that feels both contemporary and wonderfully nostalgic. At LIVOSY, we appreciate objects like this: carefully chosen pieces that become part of personal Christmas traditions rather than disappearing with the next seasonal trend.

Winter is lovelier with good company

The KÄHLER Hammershøi Christmas Snow Girl looks especially charming alongside the matching Snow Boy. Together, the two porcelain figurines make a cheerful little pair, ready to take their place on a sideboard, bookshelf or Christmas dining table. Add other festive figures from the collection to create your own winter scene, or let the pair stand on their own among a few carefully chosen decorations. The Snow Girl also pairs beautifully with the plates, mugs and cups from the Hammershøi Christmas range, where Rikke Jacobsen's botanical illustrations continue the same gentle festive story. Simple candle holders, an Advent calendar candle and natural evergreen branches bring warmth and texture to the arrangement. For a more understated look, place her on a wooden tray alongside neutral home accessories and let her cheerful expression do the talking. Whether she's part of a larger Christmas display or a small detail on a quiet shelf, this porcelain snow girl brings a little light-hearted charm to the season.
